Viral Strawberry Yogurt Bites

These are the perfect balance of creamy, fruity and chocolatey – you won’t believe how easy they are to make!

Plus, you can easily customize them with different fruit, flavored yogurt or even a sprinkle of sea salt for extra flavor.

Three bowls on a wooden surface: one with dark chocolate chunks, one with Greek yogurt, and one with sliced strawberries. Labels on each bowl identify the contents.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, finely diced – strawberries picked at the height of ripeness will yield the best flavor.
  • Plain Greek yogurt – I love Oikos Pro for a high-protein option, but any thick Greek yogurt will work.
  • Dark chocolate chips – any melting chocolate of your choice works! Chocolate candy melts are a great option. If using traditional chocolate chips, you may need to add a teaspoon of coconut oil to help the chocolate melt smoothly.
  • Maple syrup (optional) – add a sweetener of choice if the yogurt and strawberry mixture isn’t sweet enough. I find Greek yogurt kind of tart so adding a bit of syrup is a must for me.
  • Sea salt (optional) – a sprinkle of sea salt enhances the chocolate coating and adds a delicious contrast to the sweetness.

Instructions

1. Wash and cut up the strawberries. Chop them into small pieces so they mix well into the yogurt.

2. In a medium bowl, combine strawberries and yogurt. Add maple syrup if desired and mix well.

A baking tray lined with parchment paper holds twelve dollops of strawberry yogurt mixture. Two fresh strawberries and a lace doily can be seen in the background on a wooden surface.

3. Drop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet by large spoonfuls. Make small clusters for easier dipping later.

4. Place into the freezer to set, about 30 minutes. This helps the clusters firm up before adding the chocolate coating.

5. Remove from the freezer. Get ready for the best part – the chocolate!

A spoon dips a strawberry and cream mixture into a bowl of melted chocolate. A baking sheet with more strawberry treats and a bowl of fresh strawberries are nearby on a wooden surface.

6. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15 to 30-second intervals, checking and stirring each time so that the chocolate doesn’t seize.

A baking tray lined with parchment paper holds clusters of chocolate-covered and pink, creamy clusters. The chocolate ones are sprinkled with a hint of sea salt. A lace doily peeks from the corner of the wooden table.

7. Dip each cluster in melted chocolate and place on the lined baking sheet. Use a spoon to help coat them evenly.

Chocolate-covered treats sprinkled with sea salt sit on parchment paper. Behind them are pink, fluffy confections.

Tips & Tricks

  • A thick Greek yogurt helps the clusters hold their shape better.
  • Try different flavors. Swap out plain yogurt for vanilla yogurt or coconut yogurt for a fun twist.
  • A splash of vanilla extract, a drizzle of peanut butter, or a sprinkle of sea salt can take these to the next level.
  • If you don’t want to melt chocolate in the microwave, a double boiler is a great alternative.
  • Store in an airtight container. Keep your frozen yogurt clusters in a freezer-safe airtight container to prevent freezer burn.
  • Experiment with different fruit. While strawberries are classic, chopped mango, blueberries, or raspberries also make delicious clusters!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you coat the clusters evenly in chocolate?

The key to a smooth chocolate coating is melting the chocolate properly. Adding a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil to the melted chocolate can help keep it smooth.  Use a fork to allow the excess to drip from the cluster.

Can I use white or milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate?

Absolutely! You can use white chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate for a sweeter flavor. Just be sure to melt it properly so that it coats the clusters smoothly.

How long do strawberry yogurt clusters last in the freezer?

Stored in an airtight container or wrapped in wax paper, these frozen yogurt bites will stay fresh for up to 3 months. However, they’re so delicious that they probably won’t last that long!

Chocolate-covered strawberries filled with cream sit on parchment paper. One is cut open to reveal the creamy filling with strawberry pieces inside. A fresh strawberry is placed alongside the chocolates, which have a slight dusting of salt or sugar.
