Whether you have grown up referring to them as yams or sweet potatoes, you were almost certainly enjoying sweet potatoes at family dinners. A true yam is not as sweet and has a much rougher skin, almost like tree bark.

When done, the flavor profile in this recipe is a combination of sweet potato pie and apple pie. Kids are sure to love it because each bite is a light, bright burst of sweet flavor!!

Parents will approve because it’s full of healthy ingredients. This was one of my grandpa’s favorites because he loves ginger.

In fact, you could garnish the dish with minced up candied ginger if you want. We fight over who gets to peel the caramelized syrup and spice bits from the sheet pan. They are so yummy!
