Watercolor Pencil Easter Chicks Tutorial
These Watercolor Pencil Easter Chicks are adorably simple to make into a card with this step-by-step tutorial!
Are you as excited for Easter as I am? The baskets, the bunnies and the Easter egg hunt! It’s all way too much fun, especially with little ones!
Last week I taught a Mother & Daughter card making class that was a real pleasure to facilitate.
I love my job ~ have I said that often enough?! Seriously, teaching what I love to do is awesome!
Anyway, one of the cards that we created was this little Easter chicks card using watercolor pencil crayons.
After seeing these adorable watercolor birds from Lori at Elvie Studio,
I knew that we just had to give it a try.
Too busy to make this right away?! Pin it for later! Pin this project to your favorite craft board on Pinterest and it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready.

How to make watercolor pencil Easter chicks:
They are super simple and fun to make! All you need is some watercolor paper or heavy cardstock, watercolor pencil crayons (or water color paints, or watered down acrylic paints), a paint brush (I used my water pen, its the yellow thing) and a fine tip black marker or pen. Here’s how to make your own Easter chicks…
Directions for painting chicks:
1. Gather up your supplies.
2. With the watercolor pencils, make five colorful ovals. Don’t forget little orange beaks. Color lightly with the pencils, no need to press down on the paper too hard.
3. Using a paintbrush and water (or water pen in my case), gently paint over the pencil crayon images. The water will blend the pencil and leave behind a lovely watercolor look.
4. Finally add a few chick details with the black pen.
I loved them so much that I made a whole bunch to give out at Easter!
How darling are these Easter chick cards?!
Cute hey?!
We also made some bunnies.
And sketchy Easter eggs!
