Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ tsp peppermint extract
  • ½ cup crushed peppermint candy canes
  • reserve 2 Tbsp crushed candy cane for topping

Instructions

  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Melt butter and mix with cocoa.
  • Add eggs, vanilla and peppermint extract.
  • Add sugar.
  • Carefully add flour mixture and combine well.
  • Fold in crushed candy canes.
  • Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan, spread and smooth with a spatula, sprinkle with remaining candy cane and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
  • Allow to completely cool before removing from pan and cutting into squares.
