Ingredients:
- Eight Original Rice Krispie Squares (or homemade)
- 6 oz Wilton Dark Chocolate Candy Melts
- 2 oz Wilton Milk Chocolate Candy Melts
- 2 oz Wilton White Chocolate Candy Melts
Tip: homemade rice krispie treats work just as well as store bought ones but using premade squares cuts out some of the work. Find the homemade recipe at the bottom of this post!
Directions:
1. Prepare the ingredients. Unwrap the rice krispie treats. Place the chocolate into separate, microwave safe bowls.
2. Melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely smooth.
3. Coat the rice krispie square in the dark chocolate.
4. Use a fork to allow the excess chocolate to drip from the square.
5. Place the chocolate covered squares on a parchment lined baking sheet and allow the chocolate to harden.
6. Transfer the squares to a wire rack. Place the white & milk chocolate into individual freezer bags or piping bags.
7. Cut the tip from the bag and drizzle the melted chocolate over each rice krispie treat.
8. Place the crispy treats in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving.
Tip: paper straws, popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks could be added to this fun dessert to take it to the next level – gooey rice krispie pops.
Tips for making krispie treats:
- Use candy melts for best results, the wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other chocolate chips to help them melt and pour better.
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
- Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to three months at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting.
Homemade rice krispie treats recipe:
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Directions:
1. In a large pot melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat.
2. Add rice krispie cereal. Stir until the cereal mixture is well combined.
3. Using a rubber spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into a 13 x 9 inch baking dish coated with nonstick spray. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
