What are Chocolate Covered Pretzels?
Chocolate covered pretzels are delicious little treats with the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavors. These holiday pretzels are made easy by simply using mini pretzels, dipping them in chocolate, and then covering them in festive sprinkles.
This easy holiday treat can be personalized with a wide variety of festive ingredients! Try using: a pretzel rod, dark chocolate, marshmallow fluff, white chocolate chips, crushed candy cane, red candy melts instead of white, peppermints, or other kinds of holiday sprinkles!

Ingredients
- Mini pretzels – These crunchy little pretzels are the perfect salty base for our sweet treats.
- White candy melts – These smooth, creamy morsels melt down beautifully and provide a blank canvas for creating delicious treats.
- Chocolate candy melts – Rich and indulgent, these add a delicious chocolate flavor to our creations.
- Red and green M&Ms – These colorful candies not only add a pop of color but also a fun, chocolatey crunch.
- Christmas sprinkles – These festive sprinkles are the perfect finishing touch.
Tip: Pretzel rods, large pretzels, pretzel twists, pretzel sticks, or square pretzels can be used instead of mini ones.
Instructions
1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely smooth. Dip half of the pretzels into the chocolate, letting any excess chocolate dip off, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
2. Top the white chocolate pretzels with M&Ms and sprinkles. Press the M&Ms into the chocolate so that they really stick.
3. In a medium bowl, melt the chocolate candy melts in the microwave at 15 second increments, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely smooth. Dip the remaining pretzels into the chocolate.
4. Add candy to the melted chocolate before it cools. Press the M&Ms into the chocolate so that they really “stick”. Spread the Christmas sprinkles overtop.
5. Place the chocolate pretzels in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving.
Tips for Making These Christmas Treats
- Use candy melts for best results. The wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other chocolate to help it melt and pour better.
- Instead of a microwave, use a double boiler or a glass bowl over simmering water to melt chocolate evenly without burning it.
- Use a fork to lift the pretzels out of the chocolate for a clean coat and to avoid sticky fingers.
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
How Long Do Chocolate Dipped Pretzels Last?
Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.
