Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, combine the honey and brown sugar. Warm over medium heat until combined.
2. Stir in the vanilla and cinnamon.
3. In a large bowl, mix the oats and nuts together. Pour the warm honey mixture over the oat mixture and stir well.
4. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil (or parchment paper if you prefer) and press the granola bar mixture into an even layer.

6. Let cool slightly on a wire rack, then slice into bars while still a little warm. This helps to get clean cuts.

Granola Bar Recipe Variations
- Add mini chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks.

- Add unsweetened coconut flakes, raisins, dried cranberries, or other dried fruit.
- Substitute maple syrup or brown rice syrup for some of the honey.
- Include some almond butter, cashew butter, date paste, or creamy peanut butter.
- For nut allergies, skip the nuts and sub in seeds or oats pulsed in a food processor for texture.

Tips and Tricks

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get granola bars to stick together?
The trick is heating the wet ingredients (like honey and sugar) so they bind the dry ingredients tightly when baked and cooled.
Can I make granola bars without sugar?
Yes! You can reduce or replace the brown sugar with a bit more honey or use alternatives like maple syrup or brown rice syrup.
Why are my homemade granola bars falling apart?
They may need more honey mixture or werenโt pressed firmly enough into the pan. It also helps to cut them while theyโre still warm, not fully cooled.
Are these granola bars gluten-free?
If you use certified gluten-free oats, then yes โ just double-check your other mix-ins for any sneaky gluten.
Can I freeze these bars?
Absolutely. Wrap individually in plastic wrap, then store in a freezer-safe container. Thaw at room temperature before enjoying.

How big is the baking sheet? 9×13?
Yes, 9×13 :)
What temperature do you bake at?
Oh edited to add – 350 degrees. Thanks! xo
How will it turns out when I don’t use baking sheet? Will it burnt?
Can you dry/dehydrate them to last longer?
Yes for sure!
My granola burned on the bottom and I only cooked it for 14 mins. I used a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. 275 is too hot for a metal pan.
I made this but they didnโt come out as bars. They feel apart.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that.
Simple to make and better than store bought. Made with real ingredients we are familiar with. These are a healthy basic granola bar anyone can enjoy anytime! Thank you!
If you add blueberries, would you recommend fresh or frozen, what quantity, and how would you add them to mix? Sorry for elementary questions, but I am not a cook.
Thank you.
AJ
I would actually recommend dried blueberries or any other dried fruit but not fresh.
I like granola with my yogurt. Would this recipe work if not in bars?
Sure would!
Does it matter what kind of oats you use?
Rolled oats work best.
I made it, when I first took it out of the oven they were so soft, but I let it cool and it was the perfect consistency, but how do you
make the bars? Because I made a mess and end it up just breaking it with my hands, do you do it when itโs soft after you just take it out of oven?
Yes, cut them into bars right away :)
Hi Iโm going to chime in , do you cut them into bars before baking or immediately after baking ?
Thanks
Immediately after baking :)
30 minutes at 375???? I should have known better. Hi there, smoke alarm. Completely ruined.
cook them for 15 minutes max, and maybe reduce temp to 350. Unless you like eating charcoal (exaggerated but you get it).
I’m so sorry that happened to you! Yes, please watch these carefully as ovens and bake time may vary.
The recipe and the write up say two different temperatures. I botched one recipe baking at 375 for 30 mi items. Grrr! The second batch I baked at 350 for 25 and they were perfect. Please update the write up to reflect the actual recipe. Very misleading.
Updated! So sorry that happened :(
Could I add more nuts/seeds? Not sure what amount could I put in without affecting the final result
Yes, you can add nuts and seeds. I would start with a few Tablespoons and test out the recipe.
I made these and they were very dry. Although the flavor was very good. Iโll just use a granola on my yogurt.
Delicious! I’m glad that I read through the comments because it didn’t take as long to get done. They were golden brown inside of 17 min. I added some sunflower seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds as well.
I’m going to post in the hope that you are still following, Heather. I want to make granola bars for my game group, but 1 of my friends is allergic to honey. You mentioned substituting maple syrup for part of the honey. Is there any reason I can’t use all maple syrup? (Real maple syrup, not flavored corn syrup! ) Between a peanut allergy (no binding with peanut butter) and the honey problem, I’m having a hard time finding a recipe. It’s a lot of ingredients to waste, though, so I don’t just want to test.
It’s really about the thickness of the liquid you are using, so as long as the syrup has the same viscosity it should work. I have never tried it myself though. Best wishes!
I want to add some almond butter when I make this recipe and or peanut butter. but nowhere in the recipe do you say how much to add or when to put it in the recipe. Should it be put into the honey and brown sugar mixture to be melted or how do I do it? And how much do I add?
