Materials needed to make this holiday cracker craft:
- Craft tubes (or paper rolls)
- Cracker strips (found at Michaels)
- Paper for wrapping
- String or ribbon for tying
- Small party favors / prizes
How to make these DIY holiday crackers:
Pick up a few small items to fill the crackers with. I went with silly moustaches, mini stamps, chocolates and mini flashlights #forthewin!
For our Christmas feast I also went with simply embellishing our crackers with bakers twine, tags and these adorable reindeer (found at Target).
Begin by filling the tube with all of your goodies and the cracker strip (don’t forget that fun popper!)
Wrap the tube and tie each end with ribbon or string. Be sure to leave enough room for guests to grab each end of the cracker strip to pull it.
Ahhh there is just something about brown paper packages that is therapeutic. I love the simplicity of these crackers but you can totally add whatever kinds of embellishments you want. It’s simple to match these with your tablescape or holiday decor because all you need to do is use coordinating paper or ribbon.
I chose to add a bit of bakers twine, a reindeer clothespin and a tag simply punched out of cardstock. Now all that remains left to do is write each guests name on the tags.
Do you have any “go to” party favours?! Have you made a DIY holiday cracker? Please share…
Do they untie the string before they pull?
No :)
