What are chocolate covered pretzels?
Chocolate covered pretzels are delicious little treats with the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavours. These fourth of July pretzels are made easy by simply using mini pretzels, dipping them in chocolate and then covering them in candy and sprinkles.
These holiday treats are so much fun for kids of all ages to make and take to seasonal events and celebrations.
This easy holiday treat can be personalized with a wide variety of festive ingredients! Try adding: a pretzel stick for a handle, food coloring to the chocolate, marshmallow fluff, white chocolate chips, a candy cane, red candy melts instead of white or other kinds of holiday sprinkles!

Ingredients:
- 12-20 Mini Pretzels
- 4 oz White Candy Melts
- 2 oz Blue Candy Melts
- Red and blue M&Ms
- Red, white and blue sprinkles
Tip: pretzel rods, large pretzels, pretzel twists, pretzel sticks or square pretzels can be used instead of mini ones.
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, melt the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely smooth. Dip the pretzels into the chocolate and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
2. In a medium bowl, melt the blue chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely smooth. Pour the chocolate into a piping or freezer bag. Place the pretzels on a wire rack (optional).
3. Cut the tip from the bag and drizzle blue candy melts over the pretzels.
4. Add candy to the melted chocolate before it cools – I like to have it ready in small bowls. Press the M&Ms into the chocolate so that they really “stick”. Spread the festive sprinkles overtop.
5. Place the pretzel treats in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving.
Tips for making these Independence Day treats:
- Use candy melts for best results, the wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other chocolate to help it melt and pour better.
- Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
How long do chocolate dipped pretzels last?
Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.
