Ingredients

  • Mini pretzels – these crunchy little pretzels are the perfect salty base for our sweet treats.
  • Green candy melts – these smooth, creamy chips melt down beautifully and provide a blank canvas for creating delicious treats.
  • Red candy hearts – the key to making these Grinch themed treats!

Tip: Pretzel rods, large pretzels, pretzel twists, pretzel sticks, or square pretzels can be used instead of mini ones.

Instructions

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely smooth.

2. Dip the pretzels into the chocolate, letting any excess chocolate dip off, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Pretzels partially dipped in green coating, each decorated with a red heart-shaped candy, are arranged on parchment paper. The treats have a festive, playful appearance, perfect for a themed celebration.

3. Press a red candy heart into the chocolate so that it really sticks.

4. Place the chocolate pretzels in the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden completely before serving.

Tips for Making These Christmas Treats

  • Use candy melts for best results. The wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other chocolate to help it melt and pour better.
  • Instead of a microwave, use a double boiler or a glass bowl over simmering water to melt chocolate evenly without burning it.
  • Use a fork to lift the pretzels out of the chocolate for a clean coat and to avoid sticky fingers.
  • Lay the chocolate covered treat on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
  • Place the chocolate in the fridge or freezer to completely cool before serving.
  • Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container for up to one month at room temperature. They can also be stored in the fridge to prevent the chocolate from melting or in the freezer for months.
