Tips and tricks

  • Once the baked pies have cooled completely, they can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container, for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • When fresh fruit is abundant, we like to make our own filling.  Cherries, strawberries or raspberries would all be a great choice!
  • Store-bought pie dough or pizza dough works for making mummy pies too.

Hand pie variations

  • Any flavor of jam can be used as pie filling.  Pumpkin pie filling, cherry pie filling or apple pie filling would all be delicious.
  • You could also try making these with homemade puff pastry dough.
Crescent Roll Mummy Pies
  • Whip up a simple icing by mixing powdered sugar, water, and a splash of vanilla extract together in a small bowl. Add a drizzle to the top of each hand pie.
  • Serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or whipping cream.
