Ninja Creami Oreo Protein Ice Cream

This is an easy way to make homemade ice cream with just three simple ingredients and a Ninja Creami machine. If you have a sweet tooth but want a higher protein treat, you’ll love this recipe!

A glass of vanilla protein shake sits next to a small bowl containing gluten-free Oreos and an open box of Oreo pudding mix. They are arranged on a light wooden surface.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Premier Protein – this ready to drink cream protein shake is our favorite and a great price at Costco!
  • Oreo instant pudding mix – this gives the ice cream that rich cookies and cream flavor while helping to thicken the texture for a smooth, scoopable consistency. It can be hard to find in Canada, so in a pinch, use vanilla pudding mix.
  • Gluten-Free Oreos, chopped – chopped chocolate sandwich cookies add the signature crunch and chocolatey goodness that make this treat taste just like a classic Oreo Blizzard. Regular Oreos work too!

*Each pint has over 34 grams of protein!

A bowl of frothy milk sits on a wooden surface. A wooden spoon with cookie crumbs is nearby, along with a bowl of crumbled chocolate cookies and an intact chocolate sandwich cookie.

Instructions

1. Pour the Premier Protein shake into the Ninja Creami pint container. Add the Oreo pudding mix and whisk until the mix is completely dissolved.

2. Place the pint container on a level surface in your freezer and freeze for 24 hours or until completely solid.

3. Remove the frozen pint from the freezer. Run it under hot water for 15-30 seconds, then remove the lid.

4. Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine, locking the lid into place.

5. Secure the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami machine. Press the Lite Ice Cream button and let the machine do its magic!

6. Remove the lid and check the creamy texture. If it looks powdery, place it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button for a smoother consistency.

7. While the machine is running, chop the gluten-free Oreos into small pieces.

Tips & Tricks

  • Planning on storing this in the freezer for a while? Add ½ teaspoon xanthan gum while making it to maintain texture.
  • Chop mix-ins into small pieces so they distribute evenly and blend smoothly.
  • Place the pint on a flat, level surface in your freezer to prevent freezing at an angle.
  • If the ice cream is too hard, use the Re-spin function for a softer consistency.
  • Let the frozen pint sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or run it under hot water before spinning to prevent icy chunks.
  • If a dome forms on top while freezing, try freezing without the lid or scrape off any excess before spinning to protect your blades.
  • If you’re looking to reduce the sugar content, consider using natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup for a different flavor profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make this recipe even higher in protein?

Use Premier Protein shakes or Fairlife milk instead of regular milk. You can also mix in a scoop of whey protein powder before freezing! Try different cream protein shake flavors, such as chocolate or vanilla.

When should I use regular mode vs. lite mode?

Regular mode is for higher-fat recipes with a heavy cream base, while Lite mode works best for lower-fat treats like protein ice cream recipes or when using plant-based milks like oat milk, almond milk, soy milk or coconut milk.

Can I add different mix-ins?

Of course! Add gluten-free Oreos, chocolate chips, or even some chocolate syrup for a fun twist on Ninja Creami cookies and cream ice cream.

How should I store leftovers?

Flatten the top before refreezing in the pint container or an airtight container. If it hardens too much, reprocess it using the same mode you originally used.
