Starbucks Blueberry Muffins (Copycat Recipe)
Skip the drive-thru! These copycat Starbucks blueberry muffins are loaded with juicy blueberries, topped with sweet cinnamon streusel, and baked to golden perfection.

You know how much I love my Starbucks drinks. I have already shared a lot of my favorite copycat drink recipes with you, like this caramel brulรฉe latte or this peppermint mocha.
I also really love the different treats the store has to offer and Starbucks blueberry yogurt muffins are one of my favorite snacks. The problem with all these baked goods is that the cost can really add up over time.
If you’re anything like me, youโve probably spent a small fortune feeding your Starbucks muffin habit. Between the caramel brulรฉe latte and that oh-so-perfect blueberry muffin, things can add up faster than a teenager devours snacks after school.
So whatโs a muffin-loving, budget-conscious mama to do? Make her own, of course!

They’re a hit with kids, freezer-friendly, and the perfect excuse to bake something delicious on a weekend morning. Plus, you can customize them with other fruitsโraspberries, peaches, apples, you name it. Total win!

Ingredients
Muffin Batter
- All purpose flour โ The fluffy backbone of every great muffin recipe.
- White sugar โ Sweetens things up just the way we like it.
- Salt โ Balances the sweetness so it’s not overpowering.
- Baking powder โ Gives the muffins their beautiful rise. Make sure you are using baking powder, not baking soda.
- Vegetable oil โ Keeps the crumb moist and tender.
- Egg โ Helps bind everything together.
- Milk โ Just enough to smooth out the batter.
- Fresh blueberriesย โ The star of the show! Frozen blueberries also totally work.
Streusel Topping
- White sugar โ Makes that topping sweet and crunchy. You could also try a combination of white and brown sugar.
- All purpose flour โ Helps form those perfect little crumbles.
- Butter, cubed โ Keep it cold for that signature coffee-shop texture.
- Ground cinnamon โ This warm, cozy spice is the perfect complement to blueberries.
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF. Line your muffin cups with paper liners or spray them with nonstick spray.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

3. Place vegetable oil into a 1-cup measuring cup. Add the egg, then top off with milk (approximately 1/3 cup) until the total amount of liquid measures 1 cup.
4. Mix the wet ingredients with the flour mixture. Gently fold in your blueberries.

5. Fill muffin cups with the blueberry batterโright to the top for that signature bakery-style muffin dome. (An ice cream scoop makes the job really easy.)

6. To make the streusel topping, mix together sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over top of muffin batter.

7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Tips and Tricks
- For a flavor boost, try adding a splash of vanilla extract, some lemon zest, lemon juice, or cinnamon to the batter.
- To prevent your muffins from sticking, grease and line your muffin tin well.
- Make sure to use cold butter for the streusel so it stays crumbly, not melty.
- To getย that giant bakery muffin top, fill the cups to the brim and bake at 425ยฐF for the first 5 minutes, then reduce to 350ยฐF for the rest of the cooking time.
- While it is possible to make muffin recipes with a stand mixer or electric mixer, I recommend doing it by hand for best results.
- To keep muffins fresh, store them in an airtight container for 2โ3 days or wrap individually and freeze.
- Generally, fresh and frozen fruit will work equally well in your favorite muffin recipes.
- For gluten free muffins, just swap the flour for a 1:1 gluten free blend.

Muffins make wonderful school snacks. Once cooled, I simply wrap the muffins individually in plastic wrap and then place them all in a large freezer bag.
I then store them in the freezer, where they are readily available for grab-and-go school lunch packing. Keeping them in the freezer is the only way that these delicious muffins last longer than a day at our house.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you explain how to make big muffins like Starbucks?
Fill your muffin cups all the way up and use the high-temp baking trick: start at 425ยฐF for 5 minutes, then lower to 350ยฐF to finish baking. This encourages a tall, domed top.
Are Starbucks blueberry muffins discontinued?
Nope! But they can be hard to find at times, depending on location and seasonal menu rotationsโmaking this Starbucks blueberry muffins copycat recipe even more essential!
Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh?
Yes! Just toss the frozen blueberries in a bit of flour before mixing them in. This helps prevent all your batter from turning blue.
Is this a healthy version of the Starbucks blueberry muffin?
This isnโt health food, but making them at home lets you control ingredients like sugar, flour, and oil. For a healthier option, try swapping in Greek yogurt or sour cream, reducing the sugar, or using whole wheat flour.
What makes Starbucks blueberry muffins so good?
Itโs all in the textureโmoist, cakey, and just sweet enough. The signature streusel topping and big, juicy blueberries definitely help too!

This is a AMAZING recipe! The muffins are SO good, and so easy to make!
When I made these according to the directions, the batter was extremely thick and gooey. I could actually shape it into a ball if I wanted! There was no “folding” blueberries in…I would have had to smash them. I had to keep adding milk to get it to the point I could stir blueberries in Is the batter supposed to be thick like that?
Yes, the batter is super thick – too much milk might make them gummy. Did they work out?
SO GOOD!
Great flavor and moist. Love the crunchy topping. They are the best blueberry muffins I ever tasted and I frequently get them at Starbucks. These are much better, especially fresh out of the oven๐
Best ever!!
