How to Make Steamed Milk at Home
One of my favorite parts of any hot drink is the frothy milk. It’s easy to make steamed milk at home by simply heating the milk in the microwave and then whipping it with a milk frother or immersion blender.
I love, love, love my Keurig single serve coffee maker that comes with a built-in frother. I’ve also used one of these all-in-one milk frother and steamers which are a great option to have at home.

How to Make a Peppermint Mocha
Ingredients
- Brewed strong coffee โ I love this ground espresso from Starbucks. Itโs bold, rich, and makes your kitchen smell like a cafรฉ.
- Milk, frothed โ Any milk works here. Just froth until creamy and foamy.
- Chocolate syrup โ A good chocolate syrup gives you that dreamy mocha flavor; Smuckerโs is my favorite, but Torani and Ghirardelli also do the trick.
- Peppermint syrup โ This one from Torani is the best and brings cool, minty balance to the sweetness.
- Dairyland whipped cream, prepared โ A cloud of whipped cream on top makes this feel like a cafรฉ treat. Homemade whipped cream could be used as well.

Instructions
1. Pour the coffee or espresso into a 16-oz mug.
This festive vintage Starbucks mug was thrifted from Value Village.
2. Add the chocolate syrup and peppermint syrup and stir.

3. Add steamed, frothed milk to the mug.

4. Top with a generous amount of whipped cream.

5. Finish it off with a drizzle with chocolate syrup.
You can also garnish this hot drink with holiday sprinkles, chocolate curls, crushed candy cane, or mini chocolate chips. Every year Starbucks seems to change up this recipe just a bit.

This peppermint mocha would be amazing served on a lazy Sunday morning with this delicious French casserole or cinnamon bun casserole. Together they would make a lovely Christmas breakfast or brunch!

Or add a splash of homemade Baileys or rum to make a hot toddy for the perfect night cap on those chilly winter evenings.
I could honestly have this Starbucks copycat mocha everyday! Especially if I were to make it sugar-free with a bit of sugar-free syrup and homemade whipped cream.
