What is Irish Cream?

The main ingredient in Irish Cream is heavy cream that is paired with a premium irish whiskey. It was invented in 1973, in Ireland and has become a top selling liqueur worldwide!

Baileys is the original irish cream liqueur popular in many pubs and irish cream recipes.

Cream liqueurs like this are often made with fresh cream and perfectly paired with a cup of coffee. You can buy Bailey Irish Cream from the liquor store but this original recipe is by far the best tasting.

I like to make this homemade irish cream for the holidays and store it in the fridge for up to two weeks. Mixing this recipe in a large, quart sized jar is the best way to store and shake it up before use.

This is the best irish cream liqueur, perfect for hot drinks or a single malt. Fresh irish cream is perfect for pairing with after dinner coffee or an after dinner drink.

What is Irish Cream good with?

  • Coffee. We like to add a shot or two of keto irish cream to our coffee on mornings when we are heading to the ski hill or sledding with the kids.
  • Hot chocolate is made into a delicious adult beverage when a shot of Irish Cream is added. Use my keto hot cocoa recipe for a completely keto friendly drink!
  • Irish cream is great for pouring over ice cream, adding to cold brew or pairing with Guiness.
  • Make the perfect drink with irish cream poured over a couple of ice cubes.
  • My mom likes making a White Russian with the natural ingredients found in this recipe.

How long does Baileys Irish Cream last?

Baileys Irish Cream is typically good for up to two years in the pantry and for six months in the refrigerator when opened. Homemade irish cream can be stored in the fridge for up to two months.

Because of the high dairy content of this liqueur, it has a limited shelf life. It’s best when used fresh for the best taste and flavor.
