April Fools Brussels Sprout Cake Balls

The kids have been obsessed with cake balls recently. Like, I make them and they are gone and eaten in minutes. They’re always the first snack to go on a dessert tray.

So I decided to use their love for cake balls and trick the boys on April 1st this year. These brussel sprout chocolate covered cake balls are sure to fool the kids. Right?!

They are super easy to create for April Fools’ Day! With a few simple ingredients from the grocery store you can create this fun food for the kids too.

April Fools Cake Balls Recipe:

These April Fools’ Cake Balls are totally fun to create and follow the same basic principals of making a cake ball only easier. They are intended to be a JOKE and not actually edible! Unless you like raw brussels sprouts and chocolate *shrugs*.

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Prepare the brussels sprouts by washing them, cutting off the stem and trimming off excess leaves.

2. In a medium bowl, melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals. Stir in between intervals until the chocolate is a smooth consistency.

3. Using a fork, dip the brussels sprouts into the chocolate and place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Tip: using a fork helps the excess chocolate to drip from the sprout.

Note: be sure to cover each brussels sprout entirely with chocolate so that none of the green from the sprout is showing.

4. In a small bowl, melt the white chocolate wafers in the microwave at 15 second intervals. Stir in between intervals until the chocolate is a smooth consistency.

5. Drizzle the white chocolate over the balls and and top with sprinkles.

6. Place the brussels sprout cake balls into the fridge to harden before “serving”.

Don’t they look amazing though?! Totally just like a yummy Oreo cake ball, anyone would be fooled! I might serve them up with the real thing so that the kids don’t know which oreo cake ball is real until they bite into them.

  • 6 oz melting chocolate wafers
  • 2 oz melting white chocolate wafers
  • 1 Tbsp sprinkles
