Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts โ The unsuspecting veggie star that makes this joke land perfectly.
- Chocolate candy melts โ The smooth, melty coating that hides your prank in plain sight.
- White chocolate candy melts โ Just a little drizzle to make your “cake balls” look truly convincing.
- Sprinkles โ The cheerful disguise that screams โIโm yummy!โ whenโฆwell, theyโre not.

Instructions
1. Wash and trim Brussels sprouts, cutting off the stems, and removing any excess leaves.

2. In a medium bowl, melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave in 15-second bursts, stirring in between, until silky smooth.

3. Using a fork, dip each sprout into the chocolate before placing it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Tip: The fork tines help the excess chocolate to drip off more easily.

Note: Be sure to cover each Brussels sprout entirely with chocolate so that none of the green from the sprout is showing.

4. In a small bowl, melt the white chocolate candy melts in the same 15-second bursts, stirring in between, until smooth.

5. Drizzle the white chocolate over your โcake ballsโ and top with sprinkles.

6. Place the chocolate-covered Brussels sprouts into the fridge to harden before serving.

Don’t they look amazing?! They turned out just like a yummy Oreo cake ball!
Anyone would be fooled! I might serve them up along with the real thing so that the kids don’t know which Oreo cake ball is real until they take that first bite.

Tips and Tricks
- Chill the sprouts for 10 minutes before dipping to help the chocolate set faster.
- Pop them onto a cooling rack to help the extra chocolate fall away cleanly.
- When plating your treats, add a dab of melted chocolate to the bottom so they donโt roll away on the tray.
- For an ultra-convincing look, secure each sprout on a cake pop stick before dipping.
- Use darker chocolate for a rich, Oreo-like finish that hides every hint of green.
- Keep a plate of real cake balls nearby to sell the illusion even harder.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you store chocolate-covered items like these?
Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge so the chocolate stays firm and the sprouts stay fresh.
Can I use different types of chocolate for dipping?
Yes โ any chocolate that melts smoothly works, but candy melts give the best texture and consistency for this prank.
How do I make sure the sprouts are fully covered?
A fork helps you rotate and coat the sprouts evenly, preventing any green from peeking through.
Whatโs the best way to melt chocolate in the microwave?
Short intervals (about 15 seconds), stirring between each one, keeps the chocolate from overheating or seizing.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Absolutely โ you can prep them the day before and keep them chilled until your big April Fools’ reveal.

May your April Foolsโ Day be full of laughter, a little chaos, and only a few attempts by the kids to prank you back. And please report back on how they react to this fun prank!
