Chocolate Crackle Coffee (Viral Recipe)

Whatever side of the internet you find yourself on, you have probably seen at least one or two videos of crackle coffee. But just in case you aren’t familiar with this trend, the inside of a plastic cup is coated in melted chocolate and filled with iced coffee.

The chocolate hardens, then breaks as you gently squeeze the cup, giving you that crackle effect.

It can pretty pricy to buy, though, so save yourself some cash and make your own viral crackle coffee at home. Not only are the aesthetics beautiful, it is a fun way to start your day. It really does taste as good as it looks!

Viral Crackle Coffee

Prep Time:  15 Minutes 

Freezer Time: 10 Minutes

Servings: 2 Crackle Coffees

Ingredients

  • Chocolate almond bark or chocolate chips
  • Cold water
  • Instant coffee 
  • Creamer – heavy cream or half and half
  • Whole milk – we like to use 1% or 2%
  • Whipped cream
  • Ice
  • 2 plastic cups

Instructions

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt down your almond bark in the microwave. It takes about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Stir after each minute. 

2. Pour half your melted chocolate in one cup and half in the other. Use a small spatula or gently turn your cup, until the inside of the whole cup is coated in chocolate, as shown. Shake the excess down to the bottom. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes.

3. Once frozen solid, fill your cups ¾ of the way with ice.

4. Mix together your cold water and instant coffee. Pour half into each cup. 

5. Pour half your creamer into each cup. Fill the rest of your cups with milk and top with whipped cream.

6. Squeeze your cup gently to crack up the hardened chocolate and enjoy! This is my favorite morning coffee. So good!

Tips and Tricks for Crackle Coffee

  • If you don’t want to use a microwave, the chocolate can be melted on the stovetop using a double boiler.
  • Instead of almond bark, use chocolate chips.
  • Try different variations using white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate.
  • Use plain coffee cream or try your favorite flavored creamer.
