How to Make Christmas Spinach Dip
Ingredients:
- Frozen spinach, thawed and drained
- Cream cheese, softened
- Garlic cloves, minced
- Parmesan cheese, grated
- Mozzarella cheese, grated
- Refrigerated pizza crust
- Melted butter
Tip: I love how using Pillsbury crust cuts out so much of the last minute prep work, but if you prefer, homemade pizza dough totally works for this recipe as well. Use homemade spinach dip, or store bought dip could be substituted instead.
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the spinach and cream cheese.
3. Add garlic, salt, onion powder, and chili powder, stirring to combine.
3. Add parmesan cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese and mix to combine. The other half of the mozzarella cheese will be sprinkled over the filling when you shape the Christmas tree.
4. Open the can of pizza crust dough and spread it out flat. Use a pizza cutter to cut a large triangle from the center of the dough.
5. Reserve the remaining dough triangles to go over top of the spinach mixture.
6. Place the large triangle of pizza dough on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
7. Spread the spinach dip mixture over the base triangle, leaving the edges uncovered. Top with remaining cheese.
8. Place the second dough triangle over the spinach layer on the first triangle of dough. Press the edges together.
9. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut slices into each side of the dough tree, about two inches into the tree and one inch apart. Twist each of these pieces a few times to create breadsticks.
10. Melt butter and then brush over the entire tree. Sprinkle on a little bit of garlic salt if desired.
11. Bake tree in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown on top and cooked through on the bottom.
12. Serve warm. Guests can pull each breadstick from the tree as they would like.
