Easter Oreo Cake Balls
Ingredients
- Family-sized pack of Oreos โ These classic chocolate sandwich cookies create that rich, fudgy crumb that makes Oreo balls so irresistible.
- Cream cheese, softened โ It helps bind the cookie crumbs together into a smooth, truffle-like filling.
- Pink candy melts โ Adds a sweet pastel shell that instantly makes these perfect for Easter.
- Blue candy melts โ Because spring desserts deserve soft, pretty colors.
- Green candy melts โ Gives that fresh, Easter basket vibe.
- Festive sprinkles โ The final touch that makes these look bakery-worthy.

Instructions
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a cookie sheet with wax paper.

2. Place Oreos in a stand mixer with paddle attachment.

3. Mix at low speed until all of the Oreos are crushed into a fine Oreo crumble.
Tip: A food processor works well for this step too.

4. Add softened cream cheese to the mixing bowl.

5. Mix on medium speed until a soft dough forms.
6. Cover the dough in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

7. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll into tablespoon-sized balls.
Tip: A small cookie scoop can help to get uniform-sized balls.

9. Melt the chocolate wafers in separate microwave-safe bowls. Heat in 15-30 second intervals, checking and stirring each time so that the chocolate doesn’t burn.

Tip: Use a fork for dipping to help the excess chocolate drip from each ball.

11. Place excess chocolate in a freezer bag, snip off the tip, and drizzle different colored chocolate over the balls. Immediately top with festive sprinkles.

12. Place the chocolate balls in the fridge and allow them to harden completely before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Oreo cake balls need to be refrigerated?
Yes. Because they contain cream cheese, they should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They can sit at room temperature for a few hours while serving, but long-term storage should be chilled.
Can you freeze Oreo balls?
Absolutely! Freeze them in a sealed container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving so condensation doesnโt ruin the chocolate coating.
Why are my Oreo balls cracking?
Cracking usually happens when the filling is too cold and the melted chocolate is too warm. Let the balls sit at room temperature for a couple of minutes before dipping to prevent temperature shock.
How do you get smooth chocolate when dipping?
Melt candy wafers slowly in 15โ30 second intervals, stirring each time. If using chocolate chips instead of melts, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin the chocolate for smoother dipping.
Can I use regular chocolate chips instead of candy melts?
Yes, but candy melts (like Wilton melts) give a smoother finish and set more firmly. If using chocolate chips, adding coconut oil helps create a glossy coating.
