Creamy Salsa Cheese Dip

Not only does this recipe make an easy appetizer, it is also a great choice for a quick snack. If I am wanting things to be a little bit fancier, I sometimes top my dip with chopped red bell pepper, black olives, and green onion.

Ingredients

This easy dip recipe needs only four simple ingredients from the grocery store.

  • Chunky salsa – I usually use my homemade salsa, but you can use whatever kind of salsa your family likes best.
  • Tub herb and garlic cream cheese, room temperature – this is key!
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded – a Mexican blend cheese would also be delicious. We often use Tex Mex cheese.
  • Green onion stalks, diced

Tips and Tricks

  • Packaged pre-shredded cheese is a great convenience, but I personally get the best results from this recipe when I start with a block of cheese and shred it myself.
  • If you want a heartier dip, add in some cooked lean ground beef, sausage, ground turkey, or ground chicken. You could even use kidney or black beans.
  • For more of a spicy dip, include some hot taco seasoning, cayenne pepper, your favorite hot sauce, or a can of green chilis.
  • Try making this easy recipe in the slow cooker.
  • This dip can also be made on the stove top. Simply combine your ingredients in a large skillet and cook on low heat until everything is melted together, stirring frequently.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container. I like to use microwave-safe containers, so that I can reheat the dip.
