Skillet Garlic Butter Pan Grilled Shrimp Recipe

This garlic butter shrimp recipe is perfectly cooked in a hot skillet with simple seasonings and a delicious garlic butter sauce.  It’s a great recipe for busy weeknights and adding a quick cooking protein to any meal.

Pan Grilled Shrimp Recipe

You can’t go wrong with fresh herbs, tender shrimp and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.  This easy pan-seared shrimp recipe is cooked up in just a few minutes! 

I love quick & easy recipes like this one.  It’s my favorite way of cooking shrimp, I hope that you’ll add this versatile dish to your menu planning this week.

Ingredients

Start with a few simple ingredients from the grocery store.  The full list is in the recipe card below.

  • Peeled & deveined jumbo shrimp, fresh is best however frozen and defrosted shrimp will work too.
  • Olive oil
  • Salted butter
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Italian seasoning – or a blend of dried oregano, basil and parsley.
  • Lemon juice – fresh squeezed is preferred.

Instructions

1. Prepare the fresh shrimp, devein shrimp and peel if needed, pat dry with paper towel.

2. Heat oil in a large skillet on the stove top over medium high heat.

3. Add raw shrimp to the cast iron skillet in a single layer.

4. Cook shrimp until just turning pink, about 5 minutes.  Remove shrimp and set aside.

5. Reduce heat to medium. Melt the butter and add garlic.  

6. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add parsley and seasoning.  Mix and add lemon juice.

7. Add shrimp back to the skillet.

8. Saute for an additional 1-2 minutes until fully cooked.

Tip: shrimp is fully cooked when firm and opaque.

9. Top with fresh squeezed lemon and garnish with parsley.

Recipe Notes

One teaspoon of garlic powder may be used  instead of minced garlic.

Cook time will depend on the size of shrimp, smaller shrimp will cook faster than jumbo.

Rinse the shrimp in cold water after preparing. They can remain in a bowl of cold water until ready to cook.

Leftover shrimp can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for a day or two.

Serve with potato salad, kale caesar salad or orzo greek salad. These sauteed shrimp go with pretty much anything.

Ingredients

  • 16-20 peeled & deveined jumbo shrimp fresh
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp salted butter
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Heat oil in a large skillet on the stove top over medium high heat.

  • Cook shrimp until just turning pink, about 5 minutes.  Remove shrimp and set aside.

  • Add shrimp back to the skillet.
