Substitutions:

  • Add a garnish of chopped red onion or cucumber slices to your toast.
  • Lemon zest takes the lemon flavors in the dip to the next level.
  • Substitute plain yogurt for the sour cream.
  • You can use either a block of cream cheese or whipped cream cheese for this recipe.
  • I prefer to use fresh dill in this recipe, but you can also use dried.
  • Lemon pepper seasoning
  • Your favorite flavor of bagel seasoning
  • Besides toast and crostini, you could also serve this dip with your favorite cracker, bagel chips, or as part of a bagel bar.

Tips & Tricks:

  • If you are finding that your dip is too thick, try adding an extra splash of lemon juice or a bit of olive oil to thin it out.
  • In order to keep some larger pieces of smoked salmon in the dip, try using the pulse function on your food processor. This will give you some extra control over how much the dip mixture blends.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container. It will keep for up to three days in the refrigerator.
