Pizza is always a hit with my boys, so when we go camping, it is a staple on the menu! Pizza is also a great option if you have picky eaters.

I love that everyone can choice their favorite toppings, so there isn’t any fighting! Add generous amounts of mozzarella cheese and you really can’t go wrong. I highly recommend you make it on your next camping trip.

I think a cast iron skillet is a camp kitchen essential! It is so versatile and we use our cast iron frequently every time we head into the great outdoors. Check out the skillet category in my camping recipes section for more easy recipe ideas using a cast iron pan.

Tips for Cooking With Cast Iron

  • When cooking with cast iron, be sure to season the surface first.
  • Always use gloves or oven mitts while cooking, as the surface of the iron will be hot.
  • Cook the recipe over an open fire using hot coals, not open flame. A fire that is too hot will burn the outside of your recipe and not cook the inside.
  • Be sure to clean the cast iron with a rough vegetable scrubber, rinse, and dry thoroughly before storing.

Ingredients

  • Non stick spray
  • Shredded Mozzarella cheese – using pre-shredded cheese is a huge time saver.
  • Pizza sauce – the Primo sauce in an easy squeeze bottle is great for camping!
  • Pepperoni, sliced – you can add any other pizza toppings your family enjoys!
  • Pillsbury pizza dough – I love using pre-made dough because it is so easy, but you can use homemade dough too.
