Hi! just a heads up! in the 2x recipe, the part that says “bags or ounces” wasn’t changed to accommodate the larger recipe. It still shows the same amounts as the 1x recipe.
Thanks for the heads up!
LOVE this! II want to make some candy for CHRISTMAS!
Wonderful, easy, and fun recipes for the holidays!
Thank you so much!!
I have Type 1 diabetes, do you think this would work with sugar free chocolates?
Yes, I would add coconut oil to the mixture (about 1Tbsp) and watch it carefully as sf chocolate is more difficult to work with :)
Could you add caramel to this recipe? If so, what kind and how much would you recommend?
I am not used, I have not experimented with caramel in this recipe. However! I have many more crockpot candy recipes on the site that include caramel like my crockpot turtle candies – be sure to check them out :)
How do I add marshmallows? How much?
I would add a 1/2 cup at the end and just fold them in :)
Question about the 450 grams of chocolate almond bark you’ve converted to 16 oz of bakers chocolate. Chocolate almond bark and bakers chocolate are two very different things. Almond bark is sweet, while bakers chocolate can be bitter sweet or semi-sweet. Wondering what your recommendation is here, since there are also semi-sweet chocolate chips included. I don’t want these to be too sweet. Thanks in advance!
I have used semi sweet Baker’s chocolate in this recipe and it’s perfect :) Enjoy!
Sounds delicious and I love the idea of packaging them up in holiday bags for gifts! Just to clarify on the chocolate, the recipe calls for semisweet bakers chocolate and semisweet chips. Is there a texture difference making it this way? I wonder if I could use all of one or the other?
You can totally use all of one or the other – the bakers chocolate melts smoother :)
Made a half batch and they were a HUGE hit!
It is mentioned in a different comment that you could use chocolate chips instead of bakers chocolate. Bakers chocolate is very expensive so I would like to try using the chocolate chips in place of the bakers chocolate. Would it be 16 oz of chocolate chips? Meaning, 16 oz bakers chocolate equals 16 oz of chocolate chips?
You would use 1050g total of chocolate chips if not using bakers chocolate – you may want to add a teaspoon of coconut oil because chocolate chips do not melt the same way bakers chocolate does :)
Another question :)
What about using pieces of pretzel instead of peanuts?
For sure! Add whatever mix ins you would like :)
Looks like a great recipe. Can a double boiler be used instead of a crockpot?
Yes, you can use a double boiler or microwave to melt the chocolate as well :)
