Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 8-10 minutes
Total Time: 13-15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- A head of broccoli
- Avocado oil – you could use a different oil, but I like to use avocado oil over olive oil because of its high smoke point.
- Kosher salt – try substituting garlic salt for an extra boost of flavor.
- Black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
2. Cut the broccoli into florets, making sure they are similar in size. This is the best way to ensure even cooking.
3. In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets with avocado oil, salt, and black pepper until well coated.
4. Arrange the seasoned broccoli in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
5. Place the basket into the air fryer and cook the broccoli for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the broccoli is tender.
6. Halfway through cooking, shake the basket or use tongs to toss the broccoli for even browning.
7. Once cooked, remove the broccoli from the air fryer and transfer to a serving bowl.
8. Serve hot as a side dish or a healthy snack.
Note: Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the broccoli florets and the model of your air fryer. Adjust accordingly.
Tips and Tricks
- Adjust the cooking time based on the size and thickness of the broccoli florets. Thicker florets may take longer, while small florets will be cooked more quickly.
- Feel free to customize the seasoning according to your taste preferences. Add other spices like garlic powder, onion powder, or chili flakes for extra flavor. You could also try your favorite seasoning blend.
- If you don’t yet have an air fryer, you can get similar results from this easy recipe by baking the broccoli on a sheet pan in the oven. Adjust the baking time accordingly.
- Store any leftover broccoli in the fridge in an airtight container.
How to Get the Best Results from Your Air Fryer
- It’s important to preheat the air fryer to ensure even and consistent cooking.
- Make sure your food is in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the basket, as this may lead to uneven cooking. Cook in batches if needed to allow for adequate circulation of hot air.
- Save on cleanup by lining your air fryer basket with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Clean your air fryer! I recommend washing by hand, but check your manual.
FAQ
- Everyone is talking about air frying. How exactly does an air fryer work? An air fryer cooks food quickly by radiating heat into the chamber that is then circulated through convection. This allows for food to be fried without the use of oils.
- Could I substitute frozen broccoli for the fresh broccoli in this recipe? You bet! Just adjust cook time accordingly.
