Supplies
- Stand mixer with paddle attachment or
- Electric mixer
- Large bowl
- Small bowl
- Serving platter

Ingredients
Start with a few simple ingredients from the grocery store.
- Cream cheese – left at room temperature.
- Cool Whip – we used the prepared kind in the freezer section.
- Pureed pumpkin – pumpkin pie filling could be used as well.
- Vanilla extract – pure is best.
- Powdered sugar – also known as confectioners sugar.
- Ground ginger
- Cinnamon
- Ground nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the cream cheese for 45 seconds, making sure it is smooth.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and beat on medium until combined, scraping the sides as needed.
3. Transfer the pumpkin mixture into a separate bowl and serve at room temperature with apple slices or vanilla Oreos for dipping.
Tips and Tricks
- To get the best results from this recipe, when purchasing pumpkin, make sure that it is canned pumpkin puree, rather than pumpkin pie filling. Even better, make your own puree during pumpkin season and freeze it.
- You can then use your homemade pumpkin puree all year long to make all your favorite treats, like pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, or these pumpkin spice donuts.
- Store leftovers in the fridge, either in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap.
- Besides apples and Golden Oreos, some of our family’s other favorite dippers include vanilla wafers, ginger snaps, and regular or cinnamon graham crackers.
- Make a pumpkin fluff pie. Fill a fully baked and cooled pie crust or graham cracker crust with the pumpkin dip and chill to set. You can even top your pie with extra whipped topping.
