I love to create fun, festive food for the Holidays! Putting a spooky spin on some of our favorite recipes is a great way to get into the all hallows eve spirit.

We all have that one friend (or maybe it’s you?) who hosts a Halloween party and creates an amazing spread of food for guests. Hand pies, spider web dip, witch fingers and the like. Well, these mozza eyes would make a great addition to that!

Not only are these mozza ball eyes super easy to make, they’re delicious too! Your party guests are sure to eat them up one by one.

Halloween Mozza Eyes Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Bocconcini Mozzarella balls, drained
  • Prosciutto, sliced
  • Black olives, sliced

Instructions

  1. Use a sharp knife to carve out a space into each mozza ball for a black olive slice to rest.

2. Tear the prosciutto into strips and wrap one around each ball.

3. Place a black olive slice into each cheese eye ball.

4. Serve in a small dish with skewers for picking up each ball.

Substitutions

  • Any kind of mozza ball will work, marinated or not. Just be sure to drain the cheese balls before using them.
  • Prosciutto gives the eyes the best “creepy” look but other thinly sliced deli meat will work too.
  • Instead of black olives try green olives, red peppers or mushroom pieces.

Tips & tricks

  • These Halloween cheese appetizers may be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
  • Serve these cheese balls with skewers or toothpicks on an appie platter or add them to spaghetti to create a delicious Halloween dinner.
  • Be sure to use a bowl or container to serve these on otherwise they start to fall apart.
  • Alternately you may use a toothpick to attach the prosciutto to the mozza ball to keep it in place.
