How to Get the Best Results from Your Air Fryer?
- It’s important to preheat the air fryer to ensure even and consistent cooking.
- Make sure your food is in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the basket, as this may lead to uneven cooking. Cook in batches if needed to allow for adequate circulation of hot air.
- Save on cleanup by lining your air fryer basket with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Clean your air fryer! I recommend washing by hand, but check your manual.
INGREDIENTS
- Ground beef, lean
- White onion, finely diced
- Bread crumbs – we use Panko brand.

2. In a large bowl, combine lean beef and egg.
3. Add onion, breadcrumbs and seasoning.
4. Mix until well combined.
5. Divide the meat mixture into equal balls – a kitchen scale can help with this.
6. Form the balls into patties by hand or use a patty press.
7. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees.
8. Place patties in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer.
9. Cook for 5 minutes, flip and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
Tips and Tricks
- The cooking time will vary based on the thickness of the burger. Adjust accordingly.
- The best way to be sure your burger is safe to eat is to check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the patty.
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning in this recipe to suit your family’s tastes. Try adding onion powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, or your favorite seasoning blend.
- Make up the burgers ahead of time. Keep the individual patties separated with parchment paper or wax paper and store them in the fridge or freezer. When you are ready to cook the meat, pull out as many patties as you want.
- Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the fridge.

When do you add the breadcrumbs? It mentions them in the ingredients but doesn’t say when to sdd them, or do you press the patties into the breadcrumbs?
Thanks for catching that! Edited to clarify, add to the meat mixture before forming patties.
