Ingredients
- Large pack of Oreos – These cookies are here to give us those iconic cookie crumbs.
- Cream cheese, softened – The perfect binding agent to turn cookie crumbs into that magical truffle dough.
- Orange chocolate melts – These colored candy melts give your treats their festive flair.
- Green M&Ms – These tiny candies are the perfect addition to mimic little green leaves.
- Pretzel pieces – Used for the pumpkin’s stem, pretzels add just the right crunch and charm to these truffles.

Instructions
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Place the Oreo cookies into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment.

3. Mix at low speed until all of the Oreos are crushed into fine crumbs.
Tip: A food processor or electric mixer can be used for this step too.

4. Add softened cream cheese to the mixing bowl.

5. Mix on medium speed until a soft dough forms. A rubber spatula can be used to scape down the edges of the bowl if needed.
6. Cover the dough in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

7. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll into tablespoon-sized balls.
Tip: A small cookie scoop is a handy tool for this step.
8. Place the balls in the freezer for 1 hour to chill. This step ensures they’re firm enough to coat in the melted candy.

9. Melt the orange candy melts using a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15-30 second increments, stirring each time, so that the chocolate doesn’t burn.

Alternately, you can also use this new Wilton Chocolate Melting Pot that keeps the candy coating melted at the perfect temperature!

10. Remove the cake balls from the freezer and dip them in the melted chocolate.
Tip: Use a fork for dipping to allow the excess chocolate to drip off between the tines.

11. Place cake balls on the parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and immediately press a piece of broken pretzel into the top while the coating is still wet.
A wire rack could also be used to allow the excess chocolate to drip from them.

12. Add a green M&M leaf to the top, creating a cute pumpkin shape.
13. Place the chocolate balls in the fridge and allow them to harden completely before serving.

How to Store Your Pumpkin Oreo Balls
Store these yummy treats in a large freezer bag or airtight container at room temperature for a few hours. They can also be stored in the fridge or cool place for a week or freezer for up to three months.

Easily make this recipe into pumpkin cake pops by adding a dab of melted chocolate to the end of a lollipop stick, placing the dipped end into the ball, and then dipping into the melted candy melts.

Tips and Tricks
- Use Wilton candy melts for best results, as the wafer chocolate melts the best. Add one teaspoon of coconut oil to other melted chocolate chips to help them melt and pour better.
- If you can’t find orange candy melts, you can use gel food coloring and white chocolate chips or white candy melts instead.
- Lay the chocolate-covered treat on a parchment-lined baking sheet for easy moving and transporting before the chocolate has hardened.
- Mix in a dash of pumpkin pie spice to the dough and add cake pop sticks to make pumpkin spice cake pops!
- If you find the batter to be a bit too sweet, try adding a pinch of salt.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I store these?
Store your pumpkin Oreo truffles in an airtight container. They’ll last a week in the fridge or up to three months in the freezer!
Can I use flavored Oreos?
Absolutely! Try pumpkin spice Oreos, golden Oreos, or even dark chocolate for a twist.
Can I use low-fat cream cheese for these Oreo Pumpkin Cookie Balls?
It’s best to use full-fat cream cheese, as low-fat versions have a thinner consistency, which can affect how well your cookie ball mixture binds together. Plus, full-fat cream cheese offers a richer, creamier taste.
Do I have to chill the truffles before dipping?
Yes! Chilling ensures your truffle ball holds its shape when dipped in the warm melted chocolate.
How long can I store pumpkin Oreo balls and do they need to be refrigerated?
Yes, these treats should be refrigerated due to the cream cheese content. They can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.

If you plan to gift them, keep them refrigerated until delivery and inform the recipient to store them in the fridge as well.
