Variations:

  • Instead of using mozzarella cheese slices, change it up by using a different type of cheese. Try Monterey jack cheese, Parmesan cheese, white cheddar, cheddar cheese, or even your favorite pre-shredded cheese.
  • Instead of a loaf of French bread, use slices of bread or garlic Texas toast and a panini press to make a pepperoni pizza melt.
  • Use any type of meat you like best. Ham and salami are great options. Add them on their own or combined with the pepperoni slices.

  • Make individual foil-wrapped sandwiches on dinner rolls or hamburger buns.
  • Make this recipe into pizza sliders using a package of Hawaiian sweet rolls. Keeping all of the rolls attached, cut the tops of the rolls off, add the filling, and wrap in foil. Bake as directed above. When you are ready to serve them, cut apart the individual sliders and enjoy!
  • Enhance your marinara sauce. Add it to a small bowl and mix in some extra onion powder, garlic powder, individual Italian herbs, or Italian seasoning before spreading it onto the bread.
  • Add some fresh basil leaves to your sandwiches.

TIPS & TRICKS:

  • When assembling your pull-apart pizza sandwich, start with about a tablespoon of sauce per section and see how you like it. You can always add more next time. Even better, serve the sandwiches with a side of pizza sauce for dipping!
  • Make these simple sandwiches ahead of time. Slice and fill your bread loaf, then wrap well in plastic wrap and refrigerate until you are ready to bake it.
  • Save yourself from having to clean up a mess in the bottom of your oven by placing the foiled loaf on a cookie sheet.
