S'mores Summer Craft

I have always had good luck at dollar stores with finding inexpensive and easy craft ideas. It is so much fun to go up and down the aisles, looking at all the great decorations and seasonal items.

To me, it is the perfect way to find inspiration for my own design ideas.

For anyone planning on heading into the great outdoors this summer, today’s fun craft is a great activity to prepare younger kids, especially those who have never been on a camping trip before.

This adorable S’mores craft would also be a great addition to any camping-themed unit in a preschool or elementary school classroom.

4. Once dry, flip over the craft sticks on your work surface. Dry fit them with the three white craft sticks in the center and a tan craft stick on the top and the bottom. Assemble the craft stick S’more by cutting down additional jumbo craft sticks and attaching them to the back of the S’more stack with a glue gun and hot glue.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Giving young children a chance to practice with scissors is a great way to help develop fine motor skills.
  • When making the chocolate, substitute the craft foam for construction paper instead.
  • Let the kids create their own fire pit to go with their yummy S’mores using this craft stick campfire craft.
  • Make a 3D version of this simple S’mores craft. For the S’mores ingredients, cut a piece of cardboard into squares. Add dots to two cardboard squares for the graham crackers. Paint one square brown, for the chocolate bar. Use cotton balls for the marshmallows. The pieces can then be glued together or left separate for added imaginative play.
