Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you love coffee, vanilla or the magic that happens when the two combine, this is the perfect treat for you! It’s rich, creamy and packed with flavor without being overly sweet.

A spoonful of creamy coffee-flavored mousse is held above a glass container filled with the same mousse. Coffee beans are scattered on the light wooden surface around the container.

The caffeine boost is a bonus when trying to power through the day (or a late-night blogging sesh). Plus, it’s so simple to make that even my teenagers can whip up a batch without leaving a disaster in the kitchen—most of the time!

The Ninja Creami does all the hard work, transforming just two ingredients into a silky, ice cream-like treat. Seriously, this homemade ice cream will rival anything from a café!

Ingredients

  • Starbucks vanilla frappuccino – this smooth, lightly sweetened coffee base that makes this ice cream ultra-flavorful. You can find this prepared drink at most grocery stores.
  • Vanilla protein powder – this adds protein and a creamy texture to this treat! Choose your favortie brand of powder – I like this one from Just Ingredients.

Tips & Tricks

  • Place the pint on a flat, level surface in your freezer to prevent freezing at an angle.
  • If the ice cream is too hard after the first spin, use the Re-spin function for a softer consistency.
  • Let the frozen pint sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or run under hot water for 30 seconds before spinning to prevent icy chunks.
  • Instead of using the prepared Frappuccino, try mixing brewed instant coffee with oat milk or dairy milk and adding maple syrup or honey as a natural sweetener.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this recipe without protein powder?
Yes! If you prefer a more traditional ice cream base, try using heavy cream, whole milk, or coconut milk for a creamy consistency. You can also add a splash of vanilla extract for extra flavor.

How can I add more coffee flavor?
Try adding Starbucks cold brew or instant coffee mix to the ice cream before freezing OR after the first spin.

Can I make a decaf version?
Absolutely! Swap the Starbucks Frappuccino for a decaf cold brew or mix instant coffee with your choice of milk to create a caffeine-free version of this perfect treat.

How should I store leftovers?
Flatten the top before refreezing in the pint or an airtight container. If it hardens too much, reprocess it using the same mode you originally used. To prevent ice crystals, press parchment paper directly onto the surface before sealing and freezing.
