Whenever we go apple picking to our favorite apple orchard I am always sure to bring home a jug or three of fresh pressed apple juice. It makes for the most delicious baked apple cider donuts!

We love to visit Davison Orchards where we first experienced these donuts at their farm store. They have all sorts of gorgeous fall decor for sale in addition to the best homemade treats.

Sadly, the orchard is not open year round so I found a way to enjoy these tasty apple donuts at home!

The whole family loves these homemade apple cider donuts, they are seriously gone just minutes after making. Warm apple cider donuts fresh from the oven are a staple in my fall baking. Be sure to add these delicious donuts to your must make list!

Apple Cider Donut Ingredients

How to make Apple Cider Donuts:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg spice cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup of apple cider
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In the bowl of a stand mixer with paddle attachment, combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients. Combine cake mix with eggs and oil.

3. Add apple cider and mix until a cake like batter forms.

4. Scoop the donut batter into a large freezer bag or piping bag.

5. Spray doughnut pans with non-stick spray.

6. Pipe the batter into each cavity of the donut pan.

7. Bake for 12 minutes or until just golden brown.

8. Move to a cooling rack.

9. Pour melted butter on a saucer.

10. Mix cinnamon and sugar on another saucer.

11. Dip the top of each donut in melted butter and then coat it in the cinnamon sugar.

Tips and tricks:

  • Make donut holes simply by using a cake pop pan with the same batter.
  • Use a muffin pan lined with parchment paper to create apple cider muffins.
  • Serve these delicious apple cider donuts with apple butter or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Mix brown sugar and unsalted butter in a small saucepan to create a caramel sauce for drizzling.
  • These have enough flavor to satisfy any fresh cider donut cravings but you can always add vanilla extract, apple pie spice or concentrated apple cider if you like.
