There is nothing quite so perfect as enjoying huge pie-shaped watermelon slices outside on a hot summer day. Biting into that juicy red flesh is just so satisfying and refreshing.

Because watermelon has such a high water content already, this juice hardly needs any other liquid. There is also no added sugar. All of the sweetness comes from the natural sugar in the fruit.

This easy watermelon juice recipe also uses a whole watermelon, so you may want to pick a few the next time you are grocery shopping. Let’s get started!

Tips and Tricks:

  • Save your blender a ton of work by choosing a seedless watermelon. While the light-colored seeds should blend and strain out fairly well, the black seeds can be hard on the blender blades.
  • Want to find the best watermelon in the bunch? Look for one that has a yellow spot on the bottom of the rind. A large spot should give you a sweeter fruit. It means that the melon was left in the field longer to ripen naturally.
  • Store leftover juice, refrigerated, in an airtight container. It has a shelf life of approximately 3 days.

More Watermelon Ideas:

  • If you find that the watermelon juice tastes too sweet for your liking, try adding lemon juice or lime juice for a bit of tartness.
  • Garnish your drink with fresh mint leaves, or add them straight to the blender for watermelon mint juice.
  • Add ice cream for a watermelon milkshake. You may want to do this after straining.
  • Pour your fresh juice into an ice cube tray and freeze. The ice cubes are a great way to keep your juice cold, without diluting the flavor. You could also add them to club soda or your favorite lemon lime soda.

  • Use a melon baller to scoop balls of watermelon and freeze them. Serve your juice with watermelon ball “ice cubes”.
  • Watermelon popsicles would make a wonderfully refreshing treat.
  • Freeze watermelon chunks in a single layer. Once they are completely frozen, transfer the pieces to freezer bags or another freezer-safe container. Frozen watermelon is perfect for smoothies and homemade slushies.
