INGREDIENTS:
- 1 can Pillsbury pizza dough
- 150g frozen spinach, defrosted
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 3 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 Tbsp dried Parmesan cheese
- 1/8 tsp chili pepper
- a pinch of salt and pepper
- 1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
HOW TO MAKE THESE SPINACH DIP BREAD BOWLS:
Cutting the bread bowl from Pillsbury pizza dough makes this such a quick dish to create! I use a round cookie cutter (aff link), but you could use a knife or simply pull the dough apart and shape it into rounds with your fingers.
Use a cookie scoop (aff link) to fill each bowl for easy portioning and clean up!
Alternate Ingredients:
- Try using different types of cheese, like monterey jack or feta.
- Add in red pepper flakes or extra chili powder if you like your dip spicy.
- Fresh spinach can be substituted for frozen, but you may want to wilt it down and chop it up first.
- Include chopped water chestnuts, artichoke hearts, bell peppers, or green onions in this classic dip.
- Instead of pizza dough, try a wonton wrapper, puff pastry sheets, or crescent roll dough to create the bowls.
- Switch up your fillings. Cranberry brie bites would be delicious!
Tips and Tricks:
- Prep your muffin trays with cooking spray before starting. It is the best way to ensure easy removal of the bread bowls.
- Use a mini muffin tin, instead of a full-sized one.
- Skip the bread bowls all together and make hot spinach dip. Add your filling to a baking dish and bake at 350 F for 25-30 minutes. Once it is heated through, top with cheese and bake for a few additional minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
- Warm spinach dip is delicious served with tortilla chips, pita bread, or sourdough bread.
- Store leftovers in the fridge, in an airtight container or covered snuggly with plastic wrap. They should last up to 3 days.
