Ingredients:
- 1/2 large white onion
- 3 roma tomatoes
- 1 1/2 bell peppers
- 1 jalapeno pepper (optional)
- 2 green onions
- 2 Tbsp fresh cilantro
- 1/2 lime
- 1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
- Dice all of the vegetables finely. Tip: a food processor can be used to make the cutting faster and easier.
- Add to a medium mixing bowl.
- Squeeze in the juice of 1/2 of a lime, add salt and stir.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour so that the flavours combine.
This recipe makes about two cups of salsa depending on the size of your vegetables. We like to use Roma tomatoes because they have the most flesh of all the varieties and don’t make this dish too juicy.
Cilantro and lime can be added to your liking but we always think the more cilantro, the better. Fresh cilantro and lime juice is a must have in order to get the crisp, fresh flavour that makes this the best salsa recipe!
This recipe makes a fresh and delicious classic salsa however you can add all sorts of things to this dish to change it up.
Optional ingredients:
- mangos (like in this Mango Salsa Recipe)
- strawberries
- watermelon
- lemon juice
- carrots
- celery
- tomato paste
- beef steak tomatoes
- red onion
- apple cider vinegar
- pepper
- chili flakes
