DIY Rustic Clay Heart Ornament
These DIY rustic clay heart ornaments are absolutely darling – easy and quick to make, you’ll want to add them to your Christmas crafting!
Create your own ornaments for the Christmas tree this year. These clay heart Christmas ornaments are fun to make during the holiday season with the kids!

How to make these rustic ornaments:

Get the supplies:
- Air dry clay
- 2″ rustic wood rounds
- White acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Heart shaped cookie cutter
- Twine
- Hot glue gun
Tip: if you use white air dry clay, you can skip the painting step.
Directions:
- Roll a 1/4 cup of clay out onto parchment paper 1/4″ thick.
2. Cut heart shapes out of the clay and allow it to dry completely.
3. Paint the hearts white using acrylic paint.
4. Use a hot glue gun to affix the hearts to the wood rounds. Finally, tie with a length of twine for hanging.

The sky is the limit when it comes to creating clay ornaments, I can see the kids having a blast coming up with all kinds of ideas. We liked framing the hearts with the wood slices but this is totally optional too.
We found that the wood gave this ornament a more sturdy base and bit of contrasting texture. This fun project would make lovely gift tags or an addition to holiday home decor.
