Easy bacon wrapped chicken tenders
Ingredients:
- 6 chicken breasts, cut into strips
- 1 package of bacon
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Costco has the best deal on chicken, I buy a large box of frozen chicken breasts once a month at least.
Directions:
1. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat, about 375 degrees F.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the cayanne pepper, garlic powder and brown sugar.
3. Coat the raw chicken strips with the mixture.
4. Wrap each strip with a piece of bacon.
Use a toothpick to hold each bacon slice in place if needed.
5. Grill the chicken for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 170 degrees F with a meat thermometer.
6. Flip each strip half way through grilling to help each slice of bacon cook thoroughly.
7. Serve with homemade bbq sauce or honey mustard and enjoy!
The trick to making the perfect bacon wrapped chicken is cooking it at a lower temperature for longer. These do not need high heat, it will just burn the bacon and not cook it evenly.
Substitute ingredients
- Add onion powder or black pepper to the coating.
- Use chili powder instead of cayenne pepper.
- Try using turkey bacon instead of pork.
Tips and tricks
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
- Baste the pieces of chicken with barbecue sauce in the last few minutes of cooking for added flavor.
- Chicken tenders may be placed in a single layer on a parchment lined baking sheet and baked in the oven instead of grilled.
- Try using an air fryer to cook these chicken tenders even faster!
