Air Fryer Taco Salad

Ingredients

Start with a few simple ingredients from the grocery store.

  • Lean ground beef โ€“ This hearty base keeps teen boys full for more than 30 minutes.
  • Taco seasoning โ€“ We use this homemade taco seasoning all the time, but a store-bought packet works too.
  • 10โ€ Flour tortillas โ€“ Big enough to shape into a bowl and sturdy enough to hold all the toppings.
  • Head of lettuce, chopped โ€“ Fresh, crisp, and the โ€œsaladโ€ part of our air fryer taco salad bowls.
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded โ€“ Grab a pre-shredded bag to make life easier.
  • Pico de gallo โ€“ Adds zing and freshness, but you can also use regular salsa.
  • Sour cream or lime crema โ€“ Creamy coolness to balance out those spicy bites.
  • Green onion stalk, diced โ€“ A little sprinkle of green to add to the freshness.

1. Cook the ground beef. This can be done in a skillet or the air fryer. Stir in your taco seasoning, then set it aside.

2. Place a large flour tortilla in a heat-safe bowl or small oven-safe dish that fits into your air fryer basket. Fold the sides gently to make the shape of a bowl.

3. Cook at 390 degrees F for 3-5 minutes, until the tortilla bowl edges begin to brown.

Tip: Halfway through, pause the cook and open the basket to make sure that the tortilla is not folding in on itself. Carefully press the sides of the tortilla back against the bowl if needed.
