You asked and the answer is YES! our kids are still Perler bead crafting (and so is Momma). Today we are sharing all kinds of Super Mario characters.

Our boys love Mario and have had a Super Mario birthday party and wore Mario and Luigi Halloween costumes last year. So it was no surprise when they went into Super Mario Perler bead design mode and came up with these Mario Perler bead patterns.

I love this row of “good guys”. The boys are so obsessed with Super Mario that I even made Mario and Luigi go-kart costumes for them for Halloween! They turned out super cute.

Each of the boys wore a Mario or Luigi costume and I created “race cars” out of boxes. Then I attached helium balloons to each of them, so they looked like Mario and Luigi in go-kart battle mode. Check out the Mario and Luigi go-kart costume goodness!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use square pegboards for structured designsโ€”Mario just looks better when his pixels stay put!
  • Mini Perler beads are great for detailed characters like Toad or the Piranha Plant.
  • Ironing paper is a mustโ€”no one wants a melted mess instead of their favorite icons.
  • Dark green, red, and yellow beads are essentials for crafting all things Super Mario Bros.
  • Fuse beads evenly by pressing the iron in circlesโ€”donโ€™t overdo it, or Mario might look like heโ€™s been in a boss battle!
  • Stackable storage containers make sorting your beads by color and size way easier.

Yoshi is my favorite Super Mario character. Whenever I was given a character option while playing a Mario-themed game, I always chose Yoshi. Still do!
