Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get crispy chicken wings on a Traeger grill?
The key is cooking the wings at a higher temperature like 350ยฐF and flipping them often. Patting the wings dry before seasoning also helps the skin crisp up beautifully.
What temperature should chicken wings reach when fully cooked?
Chicken wings should reach an internal temperature of 165ยฐF at minimum, but many people prefer cooking them to 170-175ยฐF for extra tender meat and crispy skin.
Do you need to flip wings while grilling?
Yes! Flipping the wings every 5 minutes helps them cook evenly and prevents burning while creating crispy skin on all sides.
Should I sauce wings before or after grilling?
For best results, add BBQ sauce or buffalo sauce during the last few minutes of cooking or after grilling. Saucing too early can cause the wings to burn.
Can I make these wings on a gas or charcoal grill?
Absolutely! While a Traeger adds incredible smoky flavor, these wings can also be cooked on a gas grill or charcoal grill using indirect heat.
